All About Me

I am a recently displaced worker, my accounting job was downsized.  The good thing about that is I have had time to start a blog, work on my ancestry research, and spend more time with my family.  I am a mother of 3 adult children and one 18 year old that is still at home for the remainder of this school year.  I have 2 young grandsons.

I purchased the Rosetta Stone French Language package in December and I have been trying to learn French.  I have been to Europe twice over the last year or so.  My first trip was just France.  My second trip was to England, France, Switzerland and Germany.  They were both school trips with my son.

I have only been researching for about ten months.  Luckily for me on my mother's side they were all around the Richmond, Indiana area for a few generations and they were all Quakers.  The Quakers kept very good records and they were all fairly educated.

I am enjoying the blogging, I never thought it was something I would ever do.  I have met wonderful people.  I think I was always leery of putting any information on the internet.  I just started using the social networks at about he same time as I started a blog.

  1. You have a beautiful site. I grew up near Liberty, Indiana. After researching my wife's ancestry, I found that that her people once lived near Liberty before going to Texas. I noticed your mention of Piggott too. Were yours in the area of James City County Virginia? My wife had ancestors there

  2. I just found your blog today. So excited to find someone searching the same line of folks. I, too, am researching the Manis/Maness line through the same people that you are. I would love to connect with you and share research. My Manis line goes through Carter Manis/Preston Manis/James P. Manis of Bell County, Kentucky. Please email me and we can share info.

  3. hi Valerie I believe I am searching the same line. My grandfather was J
James P. Manis. do you have much info or advice? I am just beginning.
