Is this motorcycle an Indian?

UPDATE
I contacted the Glenn H Curtiss Museum to see if they had any information on the motorcycle as suggested by Heather Rojo.  They said they didn't have anything like it, but they thought it was about a 1910 Indiana.

Does anyone know anything about this motorcycle and sidecar?  What year is it from?  I think it says Indian on the side.  I tried looking it up and didn't find anything exactly like it.  Some looked similar but the sidecar was different.

Oh, by the way,  the riders are my grandparents, Jim & Ethel Hoover.

Please leave a comment and let me know someone is looking at this.  I haven't had a comment yet so it feels like no one is reading anything.

  1. I had good luck with a photo of a motorcycle on my blog back in 2010. I sent the link to the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport, NY and they were able to identify it for me. I later visited the museum and saw one similar. My grandfather rode a motorcycle to Florida from Massachusetts back in 1920, and he is now deceased. I never learned what model he rode, but he said it was an Indian. There are no surviving photos. You are lucky to have this photograph.

  2. I was so excited when an older second cousin sent it to me. He actually sent me the only photo he had since it was my grandfather. I made a copy and sent it back to him, he said he had always loved that picture. I will send it to the museum to see if they can give me any info. Thanks so much for the comment and the information.
