The purpose of my blog is to record my family history and genealogy on my mother's side of the family. The surnames include Hoover, Pickett (Piggott), Eccles, Huddleston, Manis (Maness), Gipson, (Gibson) Gifford, Lawson, Fish, and and other in my family tree. I will continue my genealogy research as I try to help others with their genealogy. I don't guarantee that all my genealogical conclusions are correct, they are a work in progress.

Wordless Wednesday - Can you Identify This Picture?
This is my Wordless Wednesday GeneaBloggers post. I have a hard time being totally wordless, so I guess it is almost Wordless Wednesday. I found this picture in my mom's things. I know it is a relative, but who, and where is this team from? What kind of team? Any ideas??

Did you try dropping the image on Google Search Images, and see if anyone else has posted a photo of this photo? Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteNo I haven't. I don't know if I know how to do that. I will have to read and found out. Thanks for the suggestion, and thanks for taking time to comment.

Any chance of Oklahoma ties? Found this article, one of those "flash from the past" type things, talking about Carmen High School winning the championship (I'm assuming state) in 1912. Although it was in a Tucson paper online, it sounded like the print edition had photos. If there is an Oklahoma connection, it might be worth it to get a copy of the original Tucson paper to see the photo...maybe it's the same one. There's slso a note about a Carmen weekly newspaper, perhaps it's referring to an original article from 1912. http://tucsoncitizen.com/morgue2/1996/02/28/118007-backward-shot-worth-telling-again/
ReplyDeleteYou know I wouldn't really expect Oklahoma ties, but I guess you can't rule anything out unless you check it out. I will see what I can figure out on it. Do you think it's a basketball team?

If it is Carmen, Oklahoma, that will be an interesting twist. That is just north of Alfalfa where the Miller family lived!
ReplyDeleteDid you check out the article. It definitely looks promising.
